About

My Background

TG Counseling is a private practice ran by Taylor Griffin (she/her) based out of Tacoma, WA. My work history includes over 5 years in mental health and over 10 years in various customer service roles becoming the foundation for my person-centered and strength-based approach. My belief is that counseling is a collaborative journey we travel together as client and therapist. I work with adolescents, adults and families. My scope includes addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating and repairing the relationship with food and body image. I have experience treating eating disorders, working with college and high school students as well as treating mental health in youth and the family setting. I completed my bachelor's degree at Pacific Lutheran University in Psychology with an emphasis in Developmental Psychology, working as a Research Assistant on topics including: emerging adulthood, transitioning from school to work, and Ethnic Identity formation in children of immigrants of Asian and Hispanic background. I attended Antioch University, a CACREP-accredited college in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My field experience last a year and a half at community mental health center as a Child and Family therapist and offered school-based counseling out of local schools. For my graduate thesis paper, I researched body image and the lack of research aimed towards multicultural backgrounds and identities, including LGBTQ+. Most recently, I worked as a Primary Therapist at a national eating disorder treatment center treating eating disorders at both partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care. I was trained and incorporated the Health at Every SizeĀ® (HAES) model that treats the relationship with food and body versus traditional medical model that is weight-centric. I also led educational and process groups within the Adult and Adolescent program. My goal is to help my clients I work with reach their goals, find their voice, challenging them to take risks, and unapologetically step into their power and true self. Thank you for reading a bit about me. If you're ready to take the next step in working with me, let's set up a consultation. A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected charges for service is available upon scheduling or upon your request. I am a LMHC (licensed mental health counselor) license number: LH 61317855.
